Q&A with Paul Di Resta

Q&A with Paul Di Resta
21 Sep 2012

After a strong weekend for Sahara Force India in Monza, Paul Di Resta is raring to go in Singapore, a track where the team has done well in the past. Here are his thoughts on the weekend.

How are you adjusting to Singapore and the humidity?
“There’s nothing like this is there? I got here on Tuesday to give myself a few days before coming in. I think any time you get here does help. I think regardless of where you are, even in the hotel gym, it seems pretty humid. I think the biggest reason why coming here doesn’t affect you as much as you think is because there’s no jet lag, you’re not trying to fight the time zone, which is probably the big benefit. I went to bed at 0530-0600. It’s just trying to find something to do until then!”

Do you think that the team can be competitive this weekend?
“I would certainly hope so. I think we’re optimistic coming here based upon our car performance at Valencia. I think as a weekend that was probably the strongest we’ve been this year. Qualifying was obviously very strong in Valencia and the race pace was good. This track is nothing like anything, except Valencia, and given the result that we got here last year you can safely say that getting into Q3 and scoring points is definitely the minimum target we should set ourselves.”

Is there much left in the tank in terms of developments for this year?
“It’s like every year, there comes a point where you have to switch, and this is normally the point. I think the biggest thing is not to fatigue as a team, make sure your fitness is there and make sure you stay sharp. From this point on last year we picked up quite a lot of points compared to other people around us.”
