It was a weekend to remember for the drivers in the Sahara Force India Development squad as Nikita Mazepin and Jehan Daruvala both brought home prestigious silverware.

Racing in Barcelona on his GP3 Series debut, Nikita showed the cool head and skill of a veteran of this category. He qualified within a whisker of pole position and jumped into the lead in Race One, never relinquishing his position and managing his advantage to claim a popular victory and the immediate lead in the championship.

Elsewhere, on the other side of the Franco-Spanish border, Indian rising star Jehan Daruvala made his mark in one of Formula 3’s classic races, the Pau Grand Prix. After a solid qualifying session around the famous street circuit, Jehan produced a great drive in the treacherously soaked Race Three to climb up to third place before the race was suspended due to the poor conditions.

In addition to the success obtained by the Sahara Force India Development Drivers, the Barcelona weekend saw another occasion to celebrate. Mercedes Junior driver George Russell, who will be testing with our team at the Circuit de Catalunya this week, also got to display all his class in the F2 championship, winning the feature race to add to his Round Two success in Baku.

With many drivers within our Development squad only just getting started in their series of choice for 2018, the aim is to keep the momentum going and achieve even more success as the season progresses. We’ll keep an eye on them!
