Tonio - I’m really pleased - Bahrain GP

We opened our points account at the first race of the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship, the Bahrain Grand Prix. Tonio Liuzzi drove a faultless race, matching the pace of the Red Bull, McLaren and Mercedes cars, to secure ninth position. With the implementation of a new points system this year, Tonio has chalked up two points - marking his first points since the 2007 Chinese Grand Prix and Force India’s first points since the 2009 Italian Grand Prix.

Adrian Sutil - car 14, VJM03/03
12th (49 laps)

Tonio Liuzzi - car 15, VJM03/01
9th (49 laps)

Adrian Sutil was unfortunate to finish out of the points in 12th position. The German spun on the first lap when a cloud of smoke from the back of Mark Webber’s car completely blocked his vision and he made light contact with Robert Kubica. The incident was enough for him to spin to the rear of the field, but he pushed hard to make up several places and was closing on the top ten in the latter stages. He did have some consolation of posting the second quickest lap of the race.

Adrian Sutil - car 14
At least we finished. After the incident in the first corner it was the maximum we could do. We had a good race in the end, learning a lot about the tyres and how the car behaves at the end of a race, but the incident pretty much destroyed my hopes of getting any points. I don’t really know what happened in that corner - I was driving and then there was a big cloud of smoke so I was blind going into it. I touched someone and spun and that was it. It’s a shame but we will keep pushing for the next race.

Tonio Liuzzi -car 15
I’m really pleased. We achieved our target and scored some points, which is a great result for myself and for the team. It was a difficult race as with this amount of fuel and the tyres, plus the heat, we had a bit to control but overall I think we can be pretty happy about how we handled it and to be in the points is magic. All the top teams finished ahead of us and there were no failures or reliability issues so it was the maximum we could have achieved. I’m now looking forward to Australia where we will get some more updates and it could put us in an even better position for the next race. Overall a great result for the team.

Dr Vijay Mallya, chairman and team principal
What a great start to the season! I am absolutely delighted that we have scored in the first race of the season. It was always our aim to score points and we knew we had the pace to do it, but nevertheless to finally get there gives a great feeling. Tonio drove a superb race, matching the pace of the top teams in front, and it is certainly encouraging for the coming races. Adrian was unlucky and I know he will be disappointed not to have been able to capitalise on his starting position, but the season is long and he is hungry so I do not think he will have to wait long for his turn.

Great work by force India. Well done tonio !!!! It would have been 9th and 10th places for force India, if sutil had not spun off the track at the starting lap. Anyways, Good start to season. Points in firt race itself. Come On force India !!! If both cars stay in top 10 for rest of season, 5th place in constructor championship is ours . Go Go Go !!!!!!!! Lets wish sutil best of luck so that he don't crash anymore :)

Why did Adrian choose the harder compound for qualifying? Did he think that a 6-10th position after Q1 would be sufficient for him have a good start keep the pace and then overtake all in the end just by means of the tyre wear? Somehow the time differences didnt add up.. What were you guys thinking? I was looking at Adrian finishing in the Top 5.. so this is really a big disappointment.. Liuzzi was great... Congrats !

Well done tonio !!!! Great work force India. If sutil had not met with that accident at the start of the race, it would have been 9th and 10th places for force India. let us wish sutil best of luck for the rest of season so that he don't crash with somebody again :) If both the cars remain in top 10 every race, fifth position in constructor championship could be ours!!!!!!!! Come On !!!!! Gear Up !!!!! for next race.

Well done Force India and Congratulations to Dr. Mallya for constantly pushing the team towards higher goals. But, I am not sure why Adrian Sutil still squanders his chances. Look back into last season you will know what I mean. He drives as if no else is entitled to drive around him. Champions know how not to get into an accident. I am sure Sutil is not a person who will learn this, because he lacks humility in his heart.

Yesss... we started with points. thats what was missing since long. Tonio, that was awesome dude.. "consistency with pace" defines it well. But I wished if the gap with Mark could have been reduced.. Adrian, just hardluck dude.. you will wcore heavy in coming days... Congo ... Let the force be with you All... Dr Mallya, you have No Idea How desperate I am for 2011 calender...Just just cant wait to see ForceIndia racing on Indian track...Oh boy that would be a dream come true... I hope there wont be any hurdle in it

An incredible start! Had not for the cloud of smoke from the Red Bull, Force India (FI) would have had a few more points on the table. Given the Indian F1 background, I would rate the 2 points of FI at the beginning of the 2010/2011 calander year a fantastic achievement, thanks to the hard work during the last 2 years and FI has become competitive and highly professional. Hats off to Dr Mallya and his whole team!

Hello This has been a great day for motor sports in India. To witness the tri-color car keeping pace with the best of the world was a treat to watch for every Indian. Tough luck to Sutil to have gained a great grid position and to have lost it in a cloud of smoke, but it is a long season and I hope Sutil achieves great success and with him Force India as well. Best of luck and thanks a lot. Proud to be a fan of Force India.

Here we go, what a nice start! Congrates Tonio and Force India! Feel a bit for Adrian though, but it's only the start. We are so proud of you Force India and Mr Mallya. All accounting problems apart, we are among the best of the teams in 2010. With some luck on our side sure we would be able to climb a few more steps in the ladder. Qualification is what needs some improvement and there we will be in the top 5! I wish loads of good luck to the team and the drivers for the Australian GP.

Great Work Guys,,, Force India made us proud... but looking at the performance and the comments from you guys, I feel the belief in the team is if we are in the points its great.. but the performance easily tells that we are among the top5 cars(not 2 cars per team, i mean in top5 performance at least).. we should start believing in getting podiums cause we guys have a great car and we should start believing in ourselves sooner than later .. cheers ...

I live in Bahrain and was lucky enough to watch Force India in action. It was a proud moment to see the tricolor car keeping pace with major teams. As I work for the local Mercedes Benz dealership, had enough reason to support Force India apart from McLaren and Mercedes GP. Was little bit dissapointed with Adrian incident but no worries as this is not the last race. Dr.Mallya,Thank you very much. You can't imagine how proud we Inidans feel when we sit with people from around the world. We can say proudly to them " Hey,look that's the Indian team car. Jai Ho
